Notes 6.5.x clients can open a mail file based on the Lotus Mail8.ntf design with no problem. However, I have customized my own Mail template based upon the Mail8.ntf design and when a Notes 6.5.x client opens my version I get “Error” “Not a member: OUTLINERELOAD”.
This is a new method added to the Notes 8 client which is used in three Lotus script libraries and the CalendarProfile form.
Does anyone know how to prevent this? I see that the Tools\Preferences action is now hidden from lower levels of the client.
are you sure that the 6.5 can read and use an 8 templated database? Reason I ask is that when I tried the exact same thing I found errors when going into the calendar and opening new mail message. The 6.5 client does not realy know about how to handle Domino 8 fields etc, expected really as you can’t really be forward compatable.
Subject: The issue is with co-existence for calendaring really
While new features are not supported for the Notes 6.5.x client opening a mail file based upon the Mail8.ntf template. We are really concerned only with those users being able to directly view the calendar of the upgraded person from the older Notes client. My findings show that no error is thrown when I open a new mail file from the Notes 6.5.x client as long as it is based upon the Lotus Mail8.ntf design. My own modified Mail8custom.ntf template is throwing the error however. I am hoping to gain some insight into how to avoid the errors in my custom Notes 8 mail file design.
