Modem in W2K server with Domino

Hi,

Using Lotus Domino (R6) on Windows NT4-server.

We want to upgrade NT to Windows 2000.

The machine has a modem in a comm-port to let Notes-users dial in from notesbooks on the Domino-server not via RAS).

What if I connect the modem to the new W2K-server? It be autodetected by Windows 2000, but will it still be available by Domino ?

(I remember the faxserver, FaxForDomino: this product needed exclusive use of the modem).

Please give me some advise.

Subject: Modem in W2K server with Domino

We’re using an external modem on a COM-port on a Win2000 / Domino6 machine for direct dial-up connections : no problem at all.The modem is detected and installed by Win2000, but the Domino server can still directly access the modem trough the COM-port.

It’s more the other way round : when Domino uses a com port, no other program can use that port anymore.
