Hello all,
I experience a strange problem with a database template. When I choose to create a new database which uses this template, then I get a database, which misses one view!
The view cannot be seen in the designer, not seen, when opening it the normal way and when I right click above the symbol of the new database in lotus notes and choose “Database” ==> “Go To…” it is also missing. But I use “Domino Master” as my connection / location, so I should be able to see this missing view.
When I right click on the database symbol in the workspace and choose “Database” ==> “Replace Design…” and use the template again, I can see that the missing view is added in the messages which are accessible in the status bar. But again it can’t be seen anywhere!
The template has a role, but as Domino Master I already have this role, so this shouldn’t be the problem.
Yet I’m totally baffled, has anybody seen this and can tell me a solution for this?
I choosed Windows Vista as my platform, but this also happens on another computer with Windows XP Pro.!
The server is Release 6.5.5FP1 on Linux.
Greetings
Alexander

It really sounds like you don’t have access to the view. What’s in the $Readers item in the view design note in the template? Do you really have access? How do you know, step by step?
See the Compleat Reader and Author Field Troubleshooter – these principles apply to design elements also.

take a look at the view in designer. make sure it is not checked as “No Refresh”

Thanks Andre!
Indeed it was a missing role in the $Readers item of the view. I should have checked this, before posting here. But a colleague of mine, who has more knowledge than me said, that the Master has this role by default, so I haven’t checked this before.
Sorry and thanks again!

No need to apologize. This is really an experience, that every Domino developer (and even more so administrator) has to make once … to safely remember it until the end of time.
Now just keep in mind, that the same things holds true e.g. for agents as well.
