We are doing the Lotus Notes upgrade from 6.56 to 8.52.
This month we started off client side and then follow by Domino server upgrade next month.
Some of the users are using 8.5.2 client with latest template. However, one of the users always finds the folder missing.
Having placed a service call to IBM, they advised to restore from backup. Hereafter, the missing folder is repeatedly happens. We are very fractured about this.
We also afraid that this will happen to other users after we fully implemented the 8.5.2 environment.
What had happened to his folders ??? Anyone can provide some advise on this ? Thanks in advance.
Subject: 8.5.2? That’s in beta. Are you sure that’s the version you’re using?
Subject: 8.5.1
It is 8.5.1 FP3, not 8.5.2, sorry for the mistake.
Subject: Free folder restore for Lotus Notes tool
Download our Folder restore for Lotus Notes tool. For the first ten applications it is free, so that is sufficient for your problem.
With the tool you can automatically restore mail file folders and de associated emails. This does not solve your problem, but will make it less incovenient.

Subject: Great tool but
I would like to know why the folders were missing suddenly? any possible causes for that? any logging options for to record deletion activities ? thanks.
Subject: forwarded your problem
You are right, if the folders keep up missing, the Folder Restore tool is just a tool to put the folders back, but not a real solution. I’ve forwarded your problem to our technical staff, hopefully they can help you.
Subject: Cause
One of our technical personnel thinks that your problem reoccurs as a result of the restore. You keep putting back the same mail file, probably with a fault in the ODS caused by the migration. If you use the Folder Restore tool the mail file is restored as a new database, with a correct ODS. You can give it a try, you can download the FRT for free, configure it for just that mail file and restore it. Good luck!
Subject: fallback to 6.56
Thanks for the comment. As we don’t know the root cause, the client had downgraded the template back to R6.56. Up to this moment, nothing strange occurred. Please also note user had setup mail rules to automate filing to those folders. Are they related? Since one of my teammate suggested that mismatch of folder ID may cause the corrupt of folder view.
