I can’t recall if I’ve reported this and can’t find it here if I had so here is a new issue (that has been with 8.5 since B1 as far as I can tell):
I will be working in Firefox or IE or in TN3270 or some other application and will return to Notes to see this. When I click on any document the buttons reappear.
I’ve looked in both trace and log and found nothing around the time frame of this occurance.
Subject: when this happens…
is Notes busy (e.g. retrieving information from server / opening a large attachment etc)?- what does preview pane look like (does preview pane has similar issue - showing what’s “beneath” the Notes client)?
how long does this situation stays? Do the buttons come back eventually?
If Notes is busy, part of the client doesn’t repaint well - until Notes is ready again.

Subject: have you double-checked the video drivers?
I only ask because I had some weird screen painting with 8.5.0 and when I upgraded to the latest video drivers for my laptop they went away.

Strange the buttons appear when you come back.
Can you try upgrading the folder design?
Actions → Folder → Upgrade folder design.
