We are in the process of migrating from Exchange to Notes. Their email addresses are going to be changing from companyusa.net to company.com.

All the accounts have been created, clients installed but not configured.

Here is my question - As people in the company are up on Notes and they write email within notes to other people who have not yet been completely configured they are sending mail to the Notes accounts instead of the Exchange account (because that’s what comes up first).(thus that mail sits there unread until they are configured). Is there something on the Administration side that I can disable their name showing up in the address book until everyone is migrated?

Until users “go live” with Notes, why not just forward their mail to Exchange? You can set forwarding addresses in Person documents and then delete the forwards as the users go live.

If you wanted, you could run an agent on those documents which changes the Type from “Person” to “HiddenPerson” or something like that. Those document will not show address dialogs.

Create a view for yourself so that you can see all of those, and create another agent that you can run against those you choose to set the Type to “Person” again.

I’m not sure what you mean. Basically just create two manual agents.

One with a simple action, setting the field called Type to “UserHidden.” Since no views used for address dialogs recognize this Type, they don’t show in address dialog lists. (nor will they show in any default views so you’ll need to create a view to see them)

Create another with a simple actions setting the field called Type to “Person” so that you can set these back to normal when you’re ready.

Easiest thing is to set both of these agents to be run manually, and on selected docs, so you can pick people individually as needed, or select many and run all at once.

Okay, I ran an agent for userhidden and it took it out of my view in the domino directory but it didn’t take it out of the global address book when I tried to send an email.

Is this because it would have to replicate to the other servers?

When you say global address book, do you mean the Exchange Global Address List? Or are you you’re still talking Domino here?
