Migration from R7x to R8.0

Hi,

My company is planning to migrate from R7.0.2 to R8.0 in coming months. Can someone please guide that what will happen in below scenarios:

Scenario 1: Domino application Servers and Lotus Clients being upgraded to version R8.0

Scenario 2: Domino application Servers a upgraded to version R8.0 but Lotus Clients are on R7.0.2

Scenario 3: Domino mail Servers a upgraded to version R8.0 but Lotus Clients are on R7.0.2

Upgrading both clienst and servers at the same time is fine.

Upgrading the server first while the clients stay R7.x, or having a misture of R7 and R8 clients, is also fine. The clients won’t notice a difference.

You don’t want to upgrade the clients before the server, as they will see features that they won’t be able to use.

No matter what, go to 8.0.2 or higher - not 8.0

I would like to know if whether R7x databases work fine in R8x. Or there are some functions/properties/classes won’t work in R8x

R7 dbs will work fine on D8.x servers as long they´re on ODS 43.Some application might need some small tuning if youre running with N8-clients to R7-designed dbs, eg. own-developed dbs.
