Migration from outlook

Hi everybody,

Would you have some informations about a “good” process of migration from MS Outlook to Lotus Notes ? CMT is too expensive, nupgrade don’t work very good… Thanks in advance.

Hi, but you mean migration from Exchange to Domino ?In this case I suggest to use Domino native Register Person applet inside the Domino Administrator.

From there you then select the Migrate People option and then the Outlook profile that must be configured on the machine wherefrom you do the migration.

I used that tool and the results were excellent. Perhaps some settings must be done depending on your environment.

Regards.

Hello, Thank you for your answer… We do not use an Exchange server… We had “Sendmail” under Linux… The users take their e-mails via the protocol POP3… All their e-mails are thus stored in their PC in files dbx or pst…

I’m a newbie but I have an experience with this same issue. What I did was migrate the user to outlook express first, then do the migration at the work station from outlook express. you will need to open a command line prompt, go to the program files/lotus/data directory on the system you are migrating. The comand line looks like this : Nupgrade.exe 4 username/domain user.nsf (this is the user file on the server.) user.id (this is the full path to the user.id file on the local system).

This is what worked for me. As stated I’m a newb and I probably did it the hard way.

Thanks for your answer. You should use the IMAP account created (by nupgrade) to transfer mail in this case ? In some case, I can’t export the outlook express address book to Notes… The product says “OK” but there are any entry in the Personnal Notes Address Book… Have you some informations about that ?

Hi, as suggested perhaps the best solution is to use “nupgrade 3” , with this option you will be able to migrate address book and pab. Of course you must have an outlook profile containing both. But beware that this procedure is not always easy and often some complicated e-mails or some wrong data stop the process…anyhow try it and evaluate if it is your case. Once reached the third screen chose custom method and it will give you the possibility to select both pab and contacts.

Anyhow nupgrade /? will give you all necessary options.

regards.
