Migration Exchange 5.5 to Domino 6

Hello!

Does anybody have any expirience by using the Migration-Tool provided by the Lotus Notes 6 Administration Client?

I have a customer which have users who have local archives & several local-saved messages (MSG-Files). Is it possible to migrate them?

What about calendar-entries? Local address-books? Any known problems?

Thanks in advance for answers & greetinx

Mike

You will have to use the migration tools on the local users (I think the notes client has those tools there). So each exchange user would have use the tool to convert their local information for lotus notes.

The help file in R6 walks you through the process. So I would start here.

Subject: Pay extra for 3rd party migration tools…

You may very well wish to pay the extra money and buy the 3rd party migration tool if it does what it claims.

We recently completed migrating from Exchange to Lotus and found the free Lotus-provided tool (nupgrade) to be a very half-baked affair. We were eventually able to get this tool to migrate users’ existing stuff via an arcane sequence of manual steps for each user, involving manually moving Outlook stuff into PST files, manually creating a Lotus mailfile local replica with a specific ( because it’s hardcoded in the Lotus utility) filename and in a specific location, manually running replication and manually changing mailfile templates back and forth between R6 and R5 templates to get the imported mail folders and contents to show up properly. It took a lot of painful trial & error running, but eventually we made it work. It required a very technically-oriented I.T. staff person to execute these steps and deal with any contingencies along the way. A typical end-user would never be able to successfully do this on their own.
