Migrating from windows to linux

Hello,

i want migrating from windows to linux ubuntu 12.04, but i have many questions, because i havnt’ no help from my technical assistance in my works (we use only windows, but i’m very surprised of the speed, very low, on my profressional pc : 8Go of Ram, I5Pro… ), so for this reason i want try to install notes in a linux partition.

Actually i have try successful the installation, but i have questions about the trial version, i’ve downloaded in the ibm website.

I’m a newer user on lotus (3 weeks) , and i want know, if i write my login/password and the server adress on the first login, it’s suffisant to transform my trial version to a “normal” version ?
Or i need to made another action for deblocking my version ?

I precise, i can have any help for my technical assistance.
And i use a intranet network for my work.

Excuse me in advance for my poor english, i hope it’s suffisant clear for all

Thanks for all.

David

Bellow, you can find the french version :

Bonjour,

David

Subject: client version only

Yes Jochen, i want juste use the notes customer, not entire server on my pc.

I’ve try with wine under linux, the only solution, is with ubuntu 12.04, but is too older to support my network card :frowning:

So if you have any solution, to upgrade my actual notes (8.5.3 windows) to same (or newer version) on linux (ubuntu, mint, arch) i’m very interesting.

Thank you

David

As far as I know, its your ID file that determines your Client capabilities, when connecting to your Home Domino server.

Now I’m running on Linux Mint 17, 32 Bit Mate. (its better and more stable than KDE see also → Link Notes://Notes2/85257B35003DD001/A977A5EC90949BFE852578C60073DD34/5A50A995107AE72185257D95003C0632)

Subject: Upgrade from trial version

Here are the steps to upgrade from your Domino 9 trial server.

  • Download the latest version of the Domino server from Passport Advantage http://www-01.ibm.com/software/howtobuy/passportadvantage/pao_customers.htm. Current latest version is 9.0.1.

  • Back up the Domino data directory, located under the Domino directory.

  • Make copies of your server ID, certification ID, and all user IDs.

  • Make a copy of the Notes.ini document, it is in the Notes directory.

  • Install the Domino server you downloaded from Passport Advantage. You will install this over your current trial version of Domino.

NOTE: There is no license needed to gain access to the non-trial version. You do not need to uninstall your trial version of the Domino server. You purchase the supported version of Domino and install on top of the trial version.

Subject: How about upgrading the trial version of the client?

My apologies for putting my oar in…

I believe David’s question was about upgrading the Notes client from trial to productive, not about the Domino server. In fact, I’m also interested in getting an answer to the same question.
