Migrating from 32-bit to 64-bit

I have an old Domino 7.0.1 server that I need to move to a new box, running Win Server 2003 64-bit. I know that 7.0.2 is required for 64-bit operaiton, but I don’t know how to go about the migration. If I were staying 32-bit I’d just install and then copy the old domino directory onto the new server and I’d be done. How ever I’m assuming that the 64-bit binaries are different and so that wouldn’t work(?).Could I just copy over all the databases, IDs, INIs, etc… excluding the DLLs and EXEs? Have you seen a whitepaper on this?

Thanks.

  1. Handle it like any good disaster recovery - install 7.0.2 on the new box, then restore your INI and data (nsf and ntf).

  2. I don’t think 7.0.2 is actually 64bit, just that it is supported on the 64bit platform. 8 is supposed to be true 64bit, but you should still get the advantage of 7.0.2 getting upto 4GB of ram instead of only 2 (i think).
