Meta data in Notes Client

We are a developer of applications that depends on meta data to view emails accurately and need a definition on the available meta data inside of Notes. Microsoft has an MAPI app that cracks open Outlook and allows us to look at all the fields in their client. Is there something like this for Notes or a web site that defines all the available meta data fields in a Notes client?

All fields in Notes are stored on the document – simply using the Document Properties dialog will give you access to everything that exists on a particular document.

Actually that is not true. There are meta data about the mail that are in the message header called meta data that I am after. Sorry for not being clear. There are also much more adta about an email than is in the header and that is what I am trying to find out about. In outlook there are more that 50 fields of meta data that are well beyond what is typed into the message.

Not once the document has been received in a user database. What’s available IN NOTES is available on the document in Items, which can be inspected via the Document Properties. Intact MIME (never-converted) mail will contain the header info in one or more Items. Anything else is transport-associated, and may be lost on reception.

STan, can you give me an example of the meta data you are referring to? Can you send me a sample of what you see?

Subject: how to get the fields in Notes

In your Inbox select a document (email).File | Document Properties

Click on the second tab.

It should list all the fields for that particularly document.

For email you can get a lot of information by doing the following steps:
