Message sensitivity flags

It would be nice if the Domino smtp router behaved with true internet email transport functionality and retained all standard message header sensitivity values: Personal, private, company confidential. Not just the private value. After listening in and participating in last months Domino mail router open Mic call it was obvious that the Domino SMTP router is designed to function under the assumption that the receiving mail system is a Domino server and that the receiving mail client will always be Lotus Notes. For Domino to truly be considered a world class internet email transport system it should be re-designed to retain all message header information, regardless if the Lotus Notes client can interpret that information or not.

The RFC’s clearly document the use of message sensitivity headers and their use is valid.

It would be one thing for Domino to ignore the message sensitivity header, but for Domino to arbitrarily strip this header if its value equals anything OTHER than Private defies logic. It should be noted that Domino is stripping this header value regardless if the message is inbound or outbound SMTP. So even if Domino is simply functioning as the internet email transport server, simply as an SMTP gateway server it will still strip that header out of the message. If you take the Lotus Notes client out of the equation - having Domino strip out message sensitivity makes no sense and is a real hassle to companies with mixed mail systems.
