Message rejected for policy reasons

Hello all,

This is a much bespoken topic but here it is again.

We have several Notes Servers and our mail server routes mail to the internet. Formerly there have been restrictions regarding maximum mail size (4 MB). Later we removed this policy for mail size restriction, but still when we receive a mail from the Internet with an attachment bigger than 6 MB (don’t ask where the size comes from), it is rejected for policy reasons.

Internally we can send mails with 100 MB+ with no problem.

Anyone got a clue where to search???

Jack

Check your firewall. We had a similar situation and we found that our firewall was blocking emails over a certain size.

Seems that we have a “ghost rule” in our server.Admin doesn’t show any rules, but when we give Set Rules on the console is states that:

Successfully registered 1 system filters

Anyone got an idea how to see this filter or how to delete it?

Stopping the server and renaming mail.box (ie. deleting it) didn’t work.

press and hold CTRL+Shift and double click your Name & Address book (shows all views including hidden views) then click on “(Server Mail Rules)” view and this should display all rules for all servers config. docs.I think each ‘category’ in the view is the UNID of the server config. doc.

You can delete rules from this view but I wouldn’t normally recommend it. Should be okay in this instance (if it is there!)
