The last weeks I’ve had big problems with the used memory on the domino servers (6.5.3). The nserver.exe used about 700MB RAM and the other task were similar. I’ve found here an workaround that I have to minimize the server console. This worked.
My solution is now to start the service with another user-account on the server (this means without visible console). I think it should also work when I uncheck the setting “…interactive desktop…” for the service setting and leave it under the account “system”!
And now the problem is complete away. Each notes tasks is using about 150MB RAM and not 700MB !!!
It is usually set to 300 or something silly - and that can cause leaks. Removing the window cache will help aleviate that issue and allow you to keep the ‘interactive’ screen.
Could the actual name for “interactive window cache” be the vertical screen buffer? On Windows 2000, there is a setting in the “Layout” panel for the CMD console window with this name. The default is 300, so methinks that’s what he meant.
