A quick and dirty release of this memory can be achieved by simply minimizing the console screen.
PLEASE IBM … CURE THIS!!!

Further to my last topic:
I beleive that this issue may be to do with the window settings (click on the icon, top left, of the console window and choose properties).
This buffers all of the lines/commands etc etc that the window stores. I will try some combo’s and see if I can cure it.
Subject: Might it be a Partioned Server problem?
Cause I have another 6.0.1 server with the same configuration and it works fine. The only difference is it’s not a partitioned server. The two servers I have trouble are W2K cluster and I’ve installed partitioned servers to them

We have been having the same problem. We are on Win2k SP4 without partitoned server. We running our mail routing on a separate server. Minimizing the console is a temporary fix as the nserver and nhttp tasks drop back down to about 10MB initially, but the OS does not free up the additional memory and it keeps climbing. We were planning on upgrading to 6.5 but I read somewhere else that it is still an issue. If anyone has a fix, we would be really interested to know.

I have the same problem with nupdate.exe taking all the memory. I’ve opened up a ticket with IBM and they say it’s a mail file. I disagree, I setup a test box with two test mail accounts and the same thing. Nupdate hogs the memory. Our server eventually does crash.

I’ve solved it on my servers:

I am experiencing the same memory leak problem and the more memory i throw at it the more it leaks. Please kkep me informed of any progress you may make in correcting this problem.

We have been experiencing similar symptoms. Doews anyone have any solutions yet?

Subject: Memory leak - fixed!!
IBM Support eventually provided the following notes.ini parameters, which appear to have resolved the issue:
Server_Name_Lookup_NoUpdate=1
FT_LIBNAME=ftgtr40.dll
Aside from a small issue with iNotes Web Access, our servers have been running beautifully ever since.
Subject: Where Do I Find ftgtr40.dll?
Where is this file, ftgtr40.dll? Is it a Lotus or Windows file? It is not found anywhere on our Win 2K Server (SP3) running Domino 6.0.3 server. Do I need to download it from ibm.com? Or is this a typo because we found a similarly named file, ntgtr40.dll, on our system.
Thanks in Advance,
Ken
Subject: Memory leak - fixed!! ->>Still having a problem
I have a 6.0.2CF1 mail server on Win2K SP3 & am still running into problems with the memory leak after supplying the suggested ini parameters. Anyone else running into this issue?
Subject: Memory Leak on 6.0.2CF2
Hi All,
It seems we have 3 servers here with memory leaks involving nserver. nupdate and namgr also seem to be using a lot of memory.
They are all 6.0.2CF2 running W2k SP3. One of them is a fresh install which we have not started using yet (but does have 3 of our databases on it).
These additions to the notes.ini were listed as a possible fixe:
Server_Name_Lookup_NoUpdate=1
FT_LIBNAME=ftgtr40.dll
I have just added these to one server and will monitor. Are they meant to fix the memory leak in all version of R6 or were they specific to an earlier release?
Is anyone else having this problem with 6.0.2CF2?
Subject: RE: Memory Leak on 6.0.2CF2
Andrew, we were provided the specified variables while running 6.0.1; if IBM intended for these variables to be removed following subsequent upgrades, they did not communicate that to us. Incidentally, you mention you are running 6.0.2 CF2, which is still listed as a “future release”… are you in fact running 6.0.2 CF1, or have you obtained a copy of CF2 prior to its official release?
Subject: RE: Memory Leak on 6.0.2CF2
6.0.2CF2 was realeased on Passport Advantage customer site on 2003-07-29, which is where I downloaded it from.
Subject: RE: Memory Leak on 6.0.2CF2
Im running domino 6.0.2CF1 and I see nupdate.exe and nserver.exe gradually increment throughout the day, e.g. nupdate will start at 32MB, 8 hours later will be at 300MB? Tried the notes.ini additions, they did nothing.
I am an IBM Software Partnerworld member, so I am downloading 6.0.2CF2 as we speak, but it sounds like it won’t fix this issue anyway.

We’re having the same problem - all 4 machines upgraded to ND6.5.2 are having serious memory problems. 1 box is still NT4SP6a with 2GB of RAM; the other 3 are all W2003 with between 2GB and 5GB of RAM. The main symptom of the memory creep seems to be that eventually amgr will kick off an agent which will cause a crash in the MS VC++ runtime or, more often, the agent starts and never finishes eventually requiring the entire box to be rebooted since the service cannot be shutdown succesfully at that point. I moved one of the systems to 6.5.3 yesterday and in the space of 12 hours, amgr went from using 41MB to 196MB. Nupdate and nreplica seem to also be consuming memory without releasing it as well. I sure hope IBM fixes this and soon.

Houston . . .we have a memory leak . . .
I am running WIN2000 with R6.01 and the following domino server task take the memory but DO NOT RELEASE IT.
nsmtp.exe
nserver.exe
nupdate.exe
nrouter.exe
The domino server is either locking up or ending completing. After the reboot. All is well for another 2-3 day and then it happens again.
Subject: Memory leak - ND6/W2KSP3
Having the same problem as well…
Domino 6.0.1 CF2
nupdate.exe … 397MB
nserver.exe … 321MB
nrouter.exe… 192MB
AVG User Load runs around 40 users during the day. Peaks at maby 50.
Server hasn’t been rebooted for a week now. Server will start out hovering low for a while but gradually grab more and more memory but not let go.
We have a case open with IBM about this. It was opened around last wednesday. Have been regularly sending print screens and memory dump reports to them.
So far they’ve recommended I change my paging file which I’ve bumped it up from about 300MB to 1GB. Actual RAM installed is 1.3GB. They’ve also suggested I add more disk space to my Raid Array as well as taking the paging file off my system partition and putting it on my non-system partition. This is because I kept running out of virtual memory once a week.
We’ve added the posted fix in this discussion thread a week ago, but it had no affect.
It would be nice if for future threads on this topic those posting could give a report on what amount of memory their tasks are taking up. I sent a link to IBM Lotus Passport Support on this thread to demonstrate the amount of users having this same problem.
Subject: RE: Memory leak - ND6/W2KSP3
Over the weekend I upgraded to 6.0.2 CF2 and no change in behavior at all.
nupdate.exe and nserver.exe are using approximately 300MB now and gradually incrementing in size.
The scary thing is that there is no mention of this issue being addressed in 6.0.3, not from what I’ve read in fix list anyway.
