Maximum Message Size Limit Incorrectly applied

I set the maximum message size to 25600 KB (25 MB).

A user complained about a 21 MB file getting returned to an outside sender. I tested it.

I was able to send\receive a 21 MB file internally but if I sent it from an outside email account, it was returned. The following message appeared on the Domino console:

[0AD8:001E-0CE4] 04/29/2010 04:28:25 PM SMTP Server: Message size 30256192 exceeds fixed maximum size 26214400 set by administrator

Domino thinks the file is 29 MB.

Once I removed the size limit I was able to send the file from an outside account.

Any ideas?

Subject: total msg size

I believe the restriction applies to the total msg size, not just the size of the attachment. It’s possible that the msg size is different when received from the internet. If you send the same e-mail to your internet address what is the total size of the e-mail when received in your internet acct?
