Max number of messages in Inbox reduced for R7?

I’ve been using Mail Journalling to a mail-in database made from the standard mail file template for quite some time now.

I make a new database file on the last day of each month, and switch it into place to capture all the mail journal message copies at midnight.

Domino 6’s standard mailfile template had no problems holding a full month’s worth of data (typically 6.5-8GB each month), but after upgrading to Domino 7, and now using the Domino 7 standard mail file template to create my mail-in databases, it’s been hitting a hard limit of about 4.3GB filesize and giving the error messages of:

Unable to deliver message XXXXXXXXX to MailJournalDB/CWF

Folder is larger than supported, cannot perform operation.

Did the maximum allowed size of the Inbox folder in a standard version 7 mail database get greatly reduced from what it was in version 6?

It’s hitting the limit now at about half the total file size and half the quantity of messages that it easily held before in version 6.

Have you looked in the knowledge base? There is a technote with this error message. Is the workaround working for you?

Subject: Max number of messages in Inbox reduced for R7?

I’ve recently upgraded my Mail Journaling server from 6.5.5 to 7.0.2, and have not (yet) seen this particular error.

I am also using a mail in database, I get about 6.8 - 8 gig a week, so roll my journals over weekly.

The biggest difference is that I’m using the MailJournaling template, not the standard mail file template,

The technote LO13020 seems to apply to this error - but states that it’s for Domino 6.0.5 - and states that there are ‘no plans to fix this release’. The workaround is to delete the $Inbox.

If you’ve got time on your hands, I’d suggest opening a ticket with IBM/Lotus - and document that is is still an issue in 7.0.2.
