Max number of documents in a folder?

We seem to be running into a limit on the number of docmunets in a folder.

All testing in on Windows NT/2000 servers.

Seems like the maximun number of documents in a that a mail file will in a folder or the inbox allow is 50,000?

Has anybody else seen this?

Is this a platform limit of a notes design limit?

The new message journaling option to copy documents that hit the router would seem to reach this limit even quicker than in our tests.

We’ve come across this problem on R5 and were also using NT. Lotus support informed us that there was a limit, but it was worked out based on a somewhat complex formula. i.e. It wasn’t a preset number.

There was nothing much we could do about it except get rid of the folders.
