Margins, Tables and Client

What is up with margins in the Notes Client?

I want smaller margins on my Notes Form. The default is 1" Absolute/100% Relative. I place a table on this form with Fit to Margins selected, the table draws with a even gap on both sides.

I want smaller gaps around my table. I change the margin to .25" Absolute/100% Relative and place a new table with Fit to Margins. THIS table draws with a smaller gap on the left, but the table is now too wide for the screen on the right and I must horizontally scroll. Check teh table and it is somehow Absolute width. Change back to Fit to Margins and all is reset to the default witdth! Grr

So is there something I’m missing or is it not possible to change the onscreen margins on a Notes form?

How wide do you want your form?

I’m thinking you may be able to set the Right margin to 95% or something like that to accommodate a gap on the right side…

I did try to fool with that with some limited success.

Doesn’t it seem odd that you can set a table to ‘Fit Margins’ but not be able to ADJUST the margins?!

I guess this is yet another one of those “Notes fails at common simple tasks leading everyone to doubt Notes in general” things. I can’t wait to communicate to my team that Notes can’t adjust page margins normally. Sigh.

Thx

You first can create an enclosing table set to ‘Fit To Page’ and put all the content INSIDE that table.

Now you can control the ‘page margins’ by instead controlling the padding/spacing values of this table.

Annoyingly, the column spacing will make the horizontal scrollbars to appear.

To supress THIS, instead of using cell spacing on the enclosing table, I am setting a wide BORDER that is the same color as the form background. The size of the border on the ‘fit to page’ table will produce the ‘margins’.
