Many problems with the OS X beta

I just tried to set up my gmail account as an IMAP account. Now, Notes crashes on startup (apparently as soon as my home document tries to load my mail file).

I note with interest that you name your preferences file ~/Library/Preferences/Notes Preferences rather than something like ~/Library/Preferences/com.ibm.lotus.notes.ini (you know, something that people used to looking for notes.ini would maybe be able to find? And something that meshes with Apple’s preference-file naming guidelines? Even if you don’t buy into their .plist XML nonsense, it’d still be nice to not have to deal with pollution of my ~/Library/Preferences contents.)

Changing my Location to Offline doesn’t help.

Is there a way to start Notes with no tabs open, so I can reconfigure things without reopening the problematic database?

Subject: More details…

I had attempted to create an imap and smtp account with the Client Reconfiguration Wizard. Even after changing to Offline, Notes still crashed. I was forced to delete the .nsf file, because I could not stop it from being accessed. (As you can guess, this is causing some havoc in calendaring and searches.)

I was able to create an online IMAP server document from my Address Book, and it works without issue. (I have not tried to send anything from it yet, though.)

Also, I am not connected to a Domino domain.

Subject: Can you post your crash logs?

We don’t have any plans to rename the Notes Preferences file.

Also, if you could post steps to reproduce - how you set up your IMAP connection etc, we will try to reproduce the issue.

Thanks!

Sarah
