Problems when both Notes Client and Designer are open. Lots of error messages display when switching back and forth between the 2. Uninstalled and re-installed, same issues.Not quite this bad running Beta 1.
The errors are always related to:
org.eclipse.swt.SWTException
Widgets Admin Activity Job
Also, whenever I open a HELP database in the client, anytime I do a typeahead search, the window focus goes back to the primary Notes client window, and then I have to manually get the focus back to the help database window.
I removed these files to another folder, and restarted, and so far have not had the eclipse-widget problem again, but I will repost tomorrow if it happens… it had been with me for a number of days, but I would think it strange if one of these log files actually contributed to the problem… still having the type-ahead problem though.
Subject: Primary problem has gone away… others still exist
Since deleting those log files, I have not experienced the initial problem again.But as stated, using type-ahead in a notes help database (that opens in its own window) brings the focus back to the primary Notes client. I then have to alt-tab back to the help database window, where the type-ahead action did work. This is when opening the help db initially from the traditional client workspace icon, not using the HELP action in the menu bar, which opens a newer help interface. It used to be that when you go to HELP - HELP CONTENTS in Designer, that the Designer help db would open up… now it’s opening a generic help interface that appears more ecliplse based, but using that index doesn’t allow for type-ahead of @ character like the traditional notes designer help db does.
Subject: Some questions regarding the type-ahead focus issue…
Does this issue only occur when both applications are running? or is it reproducible when just Notes is up?
I attempted to reproduce with the following steps…
Launched Notes
Launched Designer
Switched back to Notes and opened the Designer 8.5 Help db (local) from my workspace so that it opened in a new window
I clicked on the Index option and used type-ahead there to search
Result: The ‘starts with’ dialog came up and focus remained in the Help db while I searched for particular topics. I also used type-ahead while under the Search & Contents area of the Help db and focus remained in that scenario as well.
Please can you provide any further details that will help me reproduce this issue? Thanks!

I launched Notes and opened the 8.5 B2 designer help, performed type-ahead, and I’m experiencing the same issue of the focus switching to the Notes workspace page. I don’t know, perhaps there are other files that I can delete to assist in getting rid of the issue. I did uninstall 8.5 B1 before installing B2.
I’m also experiencing a new Designer client issue where one db will never open in the designer. I suppose I closed the child “opening…” window before it was done initially, but now, regardless of how many times I kill and restart notes designer, it will not open that particular db… thankfully, it opens fine in my 8.0.2 basic designer.
It will briefly displaying “opening…” in a child window and then close itself and never show the database on the left navigation pane for recent apps.
… where exactly are you performing the typeahead from in the help db? I just tried it again from the Contents, Index, Search and Tips pages on the navigation pane (left hand side pane) since typeahead does not work from the content pane (right hand side pane). I’ve also contacted the help team to see if they’ve seen this issue but any further info you can provide will help narrow this down.
Also, I’ve forwarded the 2nd issue you mentioned with the db not opening in Designer to the appropriate team for a response.

Kathy,I have the same problem Jerry reported with type-ahead in help databases.
It makes no difference whether or not I have Designer open. If I use the Notes client to open a help database, go to the index, then try a type-ahead search, focus generally remains in the help while I’m typing, but switches back to the Notes client as soon as press Enter.
The focus switch always happens at some point during a type-ahead search in the index. It usually only occurs when I press Enter but, on rare occasions, it occurs as soon as I start typing my search text.
My Notes client version information (copied from the “about Notes” dialogue-box):

Revision 20080822.1349 (Build V85_M2_08202008)
Standard Configuration
I’m using Beta 2 on Windows Vista. It appears that Jerry was using it on XP, so it’s not related to the OS version.
Are you using the Public Beta 2 build?- Does this issue still remain if you shut down Notes & Designer and then restart?
Are there specific actions you take to get into this state or is it intermittent?
I’ve encountered similar issues in the past but have not seen this occur for a couple of months so any further details you can provide on your scenario would be helpful. Thanks.
We also are seeing the document properties box weirdness if the Designer is also open. We also get windows opening up in wrong clients if both open. We sometimes get a similar error when it does open in the wrong client.
We are also seeing the same flakiness with the doc properties open in 8.02 where if I’m looking a dn element properties, go back to a document then I have to do alt-enter twice to get it to go away and come back. It basically partially clears and seems “locked up”. In reality a simple toggle of the dialog “fixes” it until the next time.
Also, when I click on an “Example” link from within a record in the Notes Help database, it switches focus to the Notes Client and states something along the line of “Cannot Create Workspace page”… when I manually switch back to the help database, the example link is displayed.
