Mailto: command not working, no memo is opened

Hi,

Can anyone help?

When I try to click on a mailto: URL or enter a mailto: someone@somewhere.com into the browser no notes memo is generated.

I have tried with Notes open and connected and also with notes closed but nothing.

I assume the notes client has to be open and connected for the mailto: command to work?

Any help would be great.

Thanks, Lee

And for this to work with Notes, Notes must be set as the default email program (user preferences, mail Internet tab).

Thanks,

My mailto: syntax is correct and Notes id my default mail client.

The error I am seeing in the status bar is…

"Unable to encrypt saved mail because the mailfile in your current location [Server name user.nsf]

is not found in your workspace or available on the network.

I have browsed to the DB file and it is shown in my workspace.

Any Ideas??

Apologies if this is obvious, I am a newbie to notes…

Thanks, Lee

I think you need to describe in a little more detail what’s happening. For instance, you talk about a message displayed on the status bar – the status bar of what application? Is your mail file literally named “Server name user.nsf”? Is it a local replica or on a server? Is this the complete filepath of the mail file?

It sounds like perhaps you’re having a problem with an incorrect setup of your Notes client “location” document. What happens if you’re in the Notes client and you press Ctrl+M? Does this create a new memo, or give you an error message, or what?

The following message appears in the status bar at bottom of my lotus notes client. (when you hover the tooltip says “status”)

"Unable to encrypt saved mail because the mailfile in your current location [Server name user.nsf]

is not found in your workspace or available on the network."

When I do a Ctrl+M in my Notes client I also get this message, but when I click the “New Memo” button that is fine, it works.

The complete path to my mail file on the server is something like LotusServer1.Location.Company and the mail file is called SampleUser.nsf

The server location is valid as I can browse to the server via Open Database method.

I can then find my mail file and open it without any problems.

The server name and mail file need to be in Domino format. Here’s an examply of my settings on the Mail tab of the Location document I’m currently using. This is the location doc I use when I’m connected to the network:

Mail file location: on Server

Mail file: mail\icgrw (mail\icgrw.nsf would also work)

Domino Mail Domain: VWRI

There are other settings on that tab, but they aren’t pertinent to this. Also, on the Servers tab, make sure Home/Mail Server is filled in with the Domino name of your mail server. In my case, this is WCAS022/VWRI.
