Our notes agents that send notifications are failing with the following error:Notes error: You do not have a mail file/server specified. Use File Mobile Edit Current Location… to set them."
When I look at the server document, the MailServer field is filled in correctly with the correct server name. When I add the MailServer parameter back to the Notes.ini file and restart the server, the parameter is removed. Does anyone know why the parameter is removed? The server document hasn’t been updated in 2 years. These agents were working in the past.
so the agents just started failing? something must have changed, what was it? was the agent signer or run on behalf of or ANYTHING else in your domino domain changed since the agents stopped working? ANYTHING?
Hi Paul, Thx for the quick response:) We have many agents in about 6 different databases on the same server that send out notifications. These agents used to work. I’m not sure when they stopped working. Trying to find out now. The agents were not changed at all. I was notified by the users that they haven’t been receiving notifications, so I was looking at the logs and noticed the error. The server doc hasn’t been updated in 2 years. I’m thinking some kind of network issue, but not sure? Wondering why the MailServer param is totally removed from the Notes.ini when I restart the server. I verify my change is saved when I add the MailServer param to the notes.ini. When I do the Trace , it reports that it connected to the server successfully. The MailServer parameter is populated correctly in the server doc. If there’s anything else you know of that I can check, that would be awesome. I know we need to upgrade:) maybe that’s the answer? Do you think the PAB is corrupted on the server? I can open it up fine and data looks good.
This error was fixed after calling IBM support. I added the paramater into the notes.ini using the ‘set config mailserver’ command. Then, the windows server was rebooted. I was only restarting Domino before, and apparently this is not enough. After the Windows machine rebooted, the agents started working again.
