Would the Mailsend logic work in a lotus notes database if we have just the Lotus Notes client for applications and its not configured for emails.
Idea is to use an external email tool like out look or gmail.

No, the mailsend uses the Notes mail capability, it isn’t doing anything like calling MAPI.

I’m not sure I agree with that, Carl. You’re right in the sense that the clients will have to have a mail server configures so that @MailSend will deposit the message in the server’s mail.box, but the user’s don’t have to have mail files on the server and they don’t have to be configured for Notes mail in the Domino Directory. As long as the server is properly configured for SMTP routing and the users have their non-Notes addresss configured, I think this works fine.
