MailSend - Using Requestor as 'SendTo'

I currently have to action buttons within my database. The first button sends a request to certain managers with a document link. Once the managers open the link, they can choose to approve or deny the request using another action button. My issue is I want to use the MailSend function to send an e-mail back to the requestor saything the request has been denied or approved. I thought maybe there was a way for when the requestor original hits the request button, to have a certain author field populate. Then the approve/deny action can read off this field for the ‘SendTo’. Is this possible? Below is my formula for both the request action and the approve action.

Request Action:

SendTo := Manager + ", "+Approver;

Subject := “Action: Request”;

tmp := @Command([EditMakeDocLink]);

@PostedCommand([MailComposeMemo]);

@PostedCommand([EditInsertText]; SendTo);

@PostedCommand([EditNextField]);

@PostedCommand([EditNextField]);

@PostedCommand([EditNextField]);

@PostedCommand([EditInsertText]; Subject);

@PostedCommand([EditNextField]);

@PostedCommand([EditInsertText]; “Please approve/deny the request -->”);

@PostedCommand([EditPaste])

Approve Action:

@SetDocField(@DocumentUniqueID;“ApprovedStatus”;“Approved”);

SendTo :=

Subject := “”;

tmp := @Command([EditMakeDocLink]);

@PostedCommand([MailSend]);

@PostedCommand([EditInsertText]; SendTo);

@PostedCommand([EditNextField]);

@PostedCommand([EditNextField]);

@PostedCommand([EditNextField]);

@PostedCommand([EditInsertText]; Subject);

@PostedCommand([EditNextField]);

@PostedCommand([EditInsertText]; “Your request has been approved.–>”);

@PostedCommand([EditPaste])

Can anyone help me to find out how I can make the SendTo in the second action correlate back to the request action?

Err.Maybe I am misunderstanding something.

It sounds quite simple.

  1. Create a computed-when-compused field with formula like @Name([CN];@UserName) or just @UserName if you prefer.

  2. Add a @MailSend to your formula:

Here’s an example from the notes help:

@MailSend(“David Lee/”;“”;“Joseph Smith/Support”;“Status Report”; “Sorry it’s late!”; “STATUS”:“PLANS”; [SIGN] : [DELIVERYREPORTCONFIRMED] : [RETURNRECEIPT])

There’s no need to specify the to as a name. Just put your field name in there.

Like:

@MailSend(Creator;“”;“”;“Status Report”; “Sorry it’s late!”; “STATUS”:“PLANS”; [SIGN] : [DELIVERYREPORTCONFIRMED] : [RETURNRECEIPT])

This is what I thought to do, but unfortunately when I look at my document properties, the field that I made is not populated with @username. I’m not sure why or what I’m doing wrong.
