Mails don't die

I have a situation where the mail server, in a cluster with two others, has 6 mails in one of its mail boxes (mail2.box)

All the mails have originated from internal users, i.e. user/ACME. All of the recipients are local although the mail addresses may be expressed hierarchically or be the internet address user2@acme.com.

In all cases the recipient names have been misspelt one way or another.

The problem is that the messages do not die - they stay pending.

The servers in the cluster are configured for DA but I checked to ensure there was no possible localpart match aross all address books.

Its almost as if the configuration document has been set to “hold undeliverable mail” but I checked and it hasn’t.

Any Ideas…?

In your configuration document, what do you have mail routing set to for failover? COnfiguration document - router/smtp tab / Advanced/ controls. Make sure that is set to last hop for all servers.

Setting is correct for all servers in the domain.

Noticed that there is a global config document setting MAILCLUSTERFAILOVER=1 for all servers. This is no longer a supported INI paramter in ND6, I will remove it, but do you think it could be this setting causing the problem.
