MailClusterFailover does not failover (or at least not right away)

Hello,We are about to upgrade our mailservers (in clustered pairs) from R6 to R7.

During a test to see what the effect would be of having 1 side of the cluster down for 24hrs we downed 1 mailserver in our production environment during the night and let the users log in the next day and failover to the other server. (Worked well, very few hiccups all day).

However we noticed that we were getting a large backlog of mail building up on the failed-over server’s mail.boxes bound for user’s mailfiles on the downed server. However after about 1 hr or so the backlog of mail suddenly got delivered to the failover servers users.

Anyone came across this before and can anyone think of a way to speed this up (ie instantaneous mailclusterfailover).

We have mailclusterfailover=1 in the config doc and we have scheduled repilication every 2 hrs inside the cluster and no routing enabled. All servers are in the same Domino named network.

Thoughts?

Steve

Routing cost?
