Mail Template Update

Hi Folks,

we have a Domino 8.0.1 and a Domino 6.5.2 Server running. They both work fine, and we are slowly migrating the users from the 6 to the 8 (that also works fine). But, when we upgrade the mailfile templates from 6 to 8 we get the problem that some (not all !!!) users experience error Messages with the new Template of the Mailfile. All upgraded users only live on the Domino 8.0.1 machine.

The immediate error message is:

Type Mismatch on external name: UIMEMODOCUMENT

follow by a second one that reads:

Variant does not contain an object

Whenever anything is clicked in the Database these error messages occur. A downgrade to the Template o version 6 fixes the problem, but is not desired. The webaccess does not work right for mailfiles that use the template of the domino 6 when hosted by a domino 8 server.

So, does anybody have any idea why this error message occurs, or even better - does anybody have a solution to the problem ? Or maybe a hint why this only happens to some users and not all of them ?

Open a mail file having this problem in Designer and look at the Forms. Find any forms that have a checkmark in the “No Refresh” and “Inherit Design” columns. For any that have a check in the “No Refresh” column, right click on that form and click Design Properties, then click on the design tab and uncheck “Prohibit design refresh or replace to modify”. For any that have “Inherit Design” checked, (** Note only DOLS should have this checked, leave it checked for DOLS), right click on the form and click properties and go to design properties and blank out the field “Inherit from the design template”. After doing both of these things, replace the design of the mailfile.

That worked great !!!

Some old mailfiles seem to have been prohibited to upgrade their memo designs. Why ever that is set is beyond me…

Unchecking that box and upgrading the design the new template works great.
