Mail template migration does not work with policy

Hi admins,

we are going to migrate our users from 5.0.9 to 6.5.1

I am trying this with a test group on a new R6.5 server in our domain.

I created a policy document with a desktop setting, in which I want to change the mail template automatically after the client update.

Settings are:

Prompt user: Yes

Old design template name for your mail files: *

If Running This Version Of Notes → Use This Mail Template:

Release 6.5.1 → iNotes6.ntf

Release 6.5.2 → iNotes6.ntf

When the user starts his notes for the first time after the upgrade, he gets the dialog box (the settings entry “prompt user: Yes”) that the admin wants to upgrade/or change his mail template - so it looks as if the policy is working…

he clicks yes - but the upgrade happens in less than 1 second (with a success message in the status line) - and has NOT really happened: the template is still R5.

Names.nsf is already R6.5 design, but the domain admin server is still R5

What am I doing wrong?

My solution:

When I looked at the detailed policy synopsis, I noticed it wasn’t picking up the first two slots with the Version and Template names.

I entered the version and template name in the 3rd slot, and it works like a charm.
