Since Router size restrictions apply against users on a specific mail server, you don’t really have options of excluding certain people.
Has anyone used the server-based mail rules feature to control email sizes accepted by the server, allowing you to create exclusions for certain people? Has anyone seen any problems with it specifically?
Thanks. My management is really leaning on me for transfer size restrictions that can be more granular than just the entire server or nothing at all.
I’m using it to control the size of incoming and outcoming messages and it works like a charm. The only issue I found occurred when I added third condition in the rule: it seems to ignore it completely.
So, I set the rule to reject messages larger than xxxKb AND domain <> mydomain.com EXCEPT when To is (or contains) specialuser@mydomain.com. Didn’t work, it keeps rejecting the messages, even when the ‘To’ field meets the criteria I set there. Frustating, huh?
But if you’re only restricting sizes then it works, go for it. You know how to do it, right? If you don’t, I can always put a recipe here…
