Mail Reports - inaccurate results

I have been testing mail reports and getting inaccurate results.

Specifically, I ran a Message Volume Summary report for a test user. I sent the test user 4 messages and the results returned 5 messages received.

I also ran multiple reports and compared with a live user’s Inbox and the results have never been accurate. Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Subject: The Mail Reports database has always been inaccurate

I opened 2 PMRs with IBM back in 2006 for this very same issue - the net result of my efforts was:‘SPR # SRNS6Z4TJY was recently closed as a Duplicate of SPR # KLAI555FFH, which has a Status of “No Plans to Fix Ever.”’
