Mail notification

Hai,

We have some problems with the Notes 6.5.3 Client. With some clients the “new mail” notification does not appear. Now I’ve read that you should open the notes.ini file and delete the NewMailSeqNum= and the NewMailSeqNumC1256EFC:00507E3B= line. I did that and it worked. BUT… a few days later it came back. And what I see is that the SeqNum is very high again.

Do you know a permenant solution.

Thsi is the troubleshooting list I use when a user has trouble with the new mail notification. It doesn’t directly speak to your problem, but at least it gives you a few more things to try.

So, first make sure the client has a valid mail file defined in the current location doc.

Then check the preferences section and make sure notification is enabled for visual or audible,

and has some number in the ‘check every x minutes’ field.

If you remove the value of the NewMailSeqNum in the NOTES.INI (or set to “0”) and restart Notes, this will re-synch the value stored in your mail file with the value stored in your NOTES.INI Remove or comment out the NewMailSeqNum line. Also comment out the AltMailApp= and the $MailStEd = line if there is one.

Do you have any mail delivery agents/triggers that run on new mail delivery ? TURN THEM OFF

Exit notes and rename the cache.dsk file. Start Notes and this file will be rebuilt. A corrupt cache.dsk file might be causing this problem

Look for duplicate notes.ini remove the incorrect one.
