Mail Journaling: Can't search for recipients? (legal production issue)

For legal purposes, I am having to go through our journaling archives and find all email sent and received by a particular person. I can easily find everything they sent (which is obviously how journaling records).

Search results do not however pull up any documents where they are the recipient of an email. I am simply running a search for email addresses.

This appears to be the case for 8.x and later journaling databases. For our older stuff (i.e. 6 & 7), I can easily retrieve if the email address is the recipient.

Any ideas on what’s going on here?

Did you try searching in another manner? ie. fully qualified name with OU, etc.?

Subject: Update… bit still no worky.

I’ve realized that I just can’t find anything that’s in an encrypted field. I am running the search with the journaling.id we set up that can read the documents, so what appears to be happening is the actual server is not able index the encrypted fields (option to index encrypted is checked).

After checking journaling settings (duh), it appears that in our journaling settings we didn’t exclude recipients from being encrypted.

Is there any way to now go back and unencrypt this field -or- make sure the server can index them? Note that we had ‘Principal’ excluded, is that now ‘Recipients’?

I know it’s late - but here are my experiences with journaling:

As far as I can tell, nothing has changed.
