Mail file woes

Since upgrading my mail template to 8.0.1 I have experienced no end of problems with my mail file.

The main one is that my inbox is not refreshing automatically. The ‘new mail’ indicator appears in my task bar, but the inbox and unread document counts beside the folders on the left navigation of the mail file do not update. I have to click on the refresh button to refresh the view before mail shows, and even after that, the unread counts don’t update.

Clicking on the taskbar icon to go straight to the mail file sometimes updates the document counts, but I do not want to have to do this all the time, that’s not the way I work; I always have my inbox open already.

I have (…well, had, see below…) mail rules that send emails directly into folders based on their content. Due to unread counts not updating, I sometimes have to go through each folder clicking the refresh button to find which folder has new email!

I read another thread on here and tried their recommendation of replacing the design of the database with a blank template, and then refreshing with the mail8 template again. This did not solve the problem and only resulted in my inbox failing to show any of the documents that were in it! I tried upgrading the folder designs but that didn’t do anything to help.

I have also done fixups and compacts on the nsf but again this has had no effect.

In order to get my inbox documents back I have re-created my mail file from another replica. The documents are now showing again, but my mail rules have now stopped working (the inbox is still not refreshing also).

I have re-saved, disabled and re-enabled the mail rules, even deleted and recreated them but nothing seems to be working.

Does anyone out there know of a way to solve these problems?

You ran the conversion program to update your mail database to the version 8.0.1 design, right? You didn’t just replace or refresh its design from the Notes 8 mail template, right?

Not for the subsequent clearing and refreshing of the design, no - probably should’ve done though.

I have since rolled back the design to an older mail template and gone back to using the convert server task to bring it back to 8.0.1.

Inbox seems to be refreshing better than before, but my mail rules are still temperamental - only 1 mail rule is working, the others just seem to be ignored (and yes I have checked that the conditions and actions in the rule are correct, and yes they are all enabled).

Any ideas as to what could cause this?

Yes I get the same issue and I have not used the convert task at all.

Can anyone help?
