Mail File Template vs Archive Mail Template

I know that the Standard Mail File template is used for an Archive Mail file. But what is it that changes the Archive Mail File to have, for example, a File Cabinet behind the Mail Outline.

There is a mail file on our Domino server, that for some reason, is displaying the features of an Archive Mail file. I would like to change it back to a normal mail file.

Does anyone know what changes to make a normal mail file to an Archive Mail file and how would you change it back.

We had the same issue with two users. Not sure of the cause of the problem but do have a solution. If the file is a regular mail file, and contains the profile document “Archive Database Profile”, it will appear as an archive mail file. To make the mail database appear as a mail database instead of an archive, you can remove the archive profile document by using the sample script below to create a button that you mail to the user’s mail file.

Go to the User’s Mail File and Create a New Memo.

Put your cursor in the body of the Message, Go to Create>Hotspot>Button

In the properties box label the button Click Me. Close the properties box.

Run: Client and change Formula to LotusScript using the drop down.

Put the cursor between Sub Click and End Sub and enter the following:

Dim s As New notessession

   Dim db As notesdatabase

   Dim doc As notesdocument

   Set db = s.CurrentDatabase

Set doc = db.GetProfileDocument("Archive Database Profile")

   Call doc.Remove (True)

Then Save. Send the memo to the end user. Go into their mail file and click the button. It will appear as though nothing has happened. Close the mail file and open again. This should resolve the issue and the mail file should appear normal. If the user has a local mail file you may have to run the button again with their ID. Good Luck.
