Mail File Quota Problem

I have a couple of users who are getting warnings that they are about to exceed their mail file quota, as set by me. They’ve deleted almost all of their saved & sent mail, but I’m looking at the server from Administrator, and it still shows their mail files to be the same size. I don’t allow soft deletes, so that’s not the problem. I’ve compacted their mail files, still no change in size.

What am I missing?

In the Domino Administrator, select Server ----> Status ----> Database Users, check the mailfile if by someone use or open it, if in case, just Drop it( make sure nobody use this nsf), and then run the "compact ???.nsf -c " in Server console. After a while, you will see some information in server console

It’s probably the style of compaction you are using – most compaction styles retain whitespace in the database to reduce fragmentation at the OS level. Try a copy-style compact if you are working from the Administrator client.

Hi,

Did u tried the compact command with thw switch -B in domino admin client. It will remove the whitespace and will reduce the mail ifle size.

I don’t think this is a compacting issue. I’ve done both of the suggestions, the file size has not changed. It seems to me that the documents that the user has deleted are not really showing up as deleted on the server.

Did u got any error while compacting the users mail file??

Check the no. of documents in server copy after deletion of docs and compare with the old one(before deletion)

Check the trash folder and delete the mails from it if any and try to compact.
