Mail Error - Not authorized to send mail to this user or group

OK we’ve added an R6 mail server to our domain, and yesterday we enabled our first mail user on this server. We’ve intermittantly been seeing this error:

Not authorized to send mail to this user or group

Some messages are bounced back to the sender, while some messages are delivered to the user’s mailbox on the server. There doesn’t seem to be a pattern, as this events were all interspersed among each other during the past 24 hours.

I’ve never heard of this kind of error, does anyone have any insight?

The user is able to “resend” just fine in some cases almost immediately.

The mail is going no further than the ND6 server.

I’ve talked to Lotus Support, and in R6, if you have reader fields on your person documents, you have to be sure to have “anonymous” selected as one of the readers.

Apparently this is a new “feature”, because this didn’t affect us at all in R5. I’ve tested this, and it appears to work.

I have the same errors on my server. It didn’t work at all until I added Anonymous to the person documents.

But now, it is sporadic and unpredictable. unreliable.

There has to be a reason behing this. Something that will say this is the end all fix.
