MAil directory not appearing

Strange problem. We upgraded to 6.0.1 grom 5.10 server . The mail folder does not appear in either Notes aor admin client. We can type it in explicitly and it is ok. We know it is there. We upgraded 2 clustered servers and the problem is only on one of them

Any reason?

Thanks in advance

Glad to hear I’m not the only one with this issue. We first noticed it after upgrading one of our clustered servers from R5 R6.0, although we could still see the mail subdirectory on the remaining R5 server in the cluster. However, after upgrading that second server the following month, the exact same issue occurred on it.

We worked with IBM at the time and tried various tricks that you may have also done – renaming the mail subdirectory to something else will indeed let you see that new directory, but as soon as you rename it back to “mail”, it again disappears. IBM thought it was our anti-virus product, GroupShield, that was “hiding” the mail subdirectory. However, we completely removed Groupshield on one of the servers and the issue still exists, so we’re once again working with IBM, although they’re not making great progress and they tell me that no one else has reported this.

So if you’re working with support, you might tell them that you’re experiencing the same thing as incident 1591100. If I ever figure out what’s causing it, I’ll report it back here and would appreciate it if you would do likewise. Thanks!

I would like to add to this as well. Upgraded my cluster from 5.0.10 to 6.0.2 CF1. Missing mail directory on one of my servers.

Solved my issue…

It was that the mail directory ACL had someone’s name assigned to it during the upgrade.

To fix it…

Gave myself full access administrator privilege to both cluster servers. Then went to the server that was working. Went to the FILES tab in administator. Then right-clicked the mail directory. Went to Manage Directory ACL… and then canceled that window. I then went to the server that wasn’t working and the mail folder appeared this time in FILES. Removed the username from the Directory ACL and now it’s working.

May not be the real answer, but it worked for me.

Thanks Ian - Lotus got back to me today on this and I came in to post the solution and discovered you’d already done it. They didn’t have me go through the same steps you mention - just simply had me delete the mail.acl file in the server’s data directory. Thanks for the follow-up!

I had same problem with my domino 6.01/plat 2000 server. I shutdown server, moved mail.acl file out of domino dir then started domino.Mail dir is now showing!

Still having minor issues though. when I right click a users mail file, i cant modify properties. this option is now grayed out.

any ideas?
