Anyone having the issue where a user clicks on the date column header to sort newest on top, but the setting doesn’t hold when they close?
He does have the ‘retain column sort’ checked in user preferences.

We have had something similar happen quite frequently. For us the issue is that the user also has their mail file on the Welcome page either using frames or personal page. On the Welcome page they have the mail file sorted on a different column.
This sorting keeps winning over the sorting of the open Inbox. By taking the sorting off of the Welcome page the problems disappear for our users.

I had exactly the same issue with a user and would NEVER have thought to look at the Welcome screen sort settings.
