Mail.box Pending Mail

I’m running Domino 6.5 and Windows2000 on my SMTP server. I’m getting a few complaints that internet email, inbound and outbound, sometimes takes 10 or more hours to deliver. I have 2 mail.box’es. I open them and they have email that is more than 24 hours old that is Pending. IBM support keeps telling me thats normal. That doesn’t make sense to me. Shouldn’t mail.box be continually cearling itself out? What should I be looking at?

Hi,

I had problems like these and solved doing two things:

  1. Reducing the time in “Dynamic cost reset interval” field from 60min to 10min. This filed is located in the Configuration document’s Router/SMTP → Advanced and Controls tab → Advanced Transfer Controls section.

See http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=0&q1=190865&uid=swg21102680&loc=en_US&cs=utf-8&cc=us&lang=en

  1. Confirm that the “NameServer” string in the Registry contains the IP address for DNS purposes. If the IP address is not present in the “NameServer” string (under the \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CURRENTCONTROLSET\SERVICES\TCPIP\PARAMETERS Registry key), add the value.

Good look!
