Mail.box corruption

Hey guys -

We had an issue with our mail.box database becoming corrupted last night into this morning. It hasn’t happened for a while, but I just want to ensure it doesn’t become a recurring thing. Here’s what the log.nsf said;

01/24/2008 10:00:12 PM SMTP Server: Error importing RFC822 message stream - invalid message header syntax likely

01/24/2008 10:00:22 PM File does not exist: nnhook

01/24/2008 10:00:55 PM SMTP Server: Error opening mail box: Database is corrupt – Cannot allocate space

The IT person who was here this morning restarted the server and everything seems to be running smoothly now. What can I do to prevent this from happening again?

You could create a new Mail.box if you are still worried about this being an issue.Can’t remember if you need to down the server or if you can get away with simply stopping the router task.[Been a while since I’ve had to do this!]

Rename the existing mail.box to something like mail.old

Upon restart Domino will recognise there is no mail.box and create a new one.

In my opinion you have to take down the server in order to rename mail.box.
