Mail Archive Link Missing

Hi all,

I have an issue in that I recently setup server based mail archiving on Domino 6.0.2CF2. It appears everything worked except for the fact that users do not see a link to the their archive database within the notes navigation pane in the notes client. When they click on Tools => Archive it does not expand or show the settings document which should automatically open up the archive database which is currently located on the server within the archive directory.

As I mentioned the archive process itself ran fine (the archive db’s were created as expected) and the log files dont show anything wrong. I have manager access to all user mail db’s and so do the users in most cases. When I open the their mail db’s from my client I am able to see the archive link as expected but none of the users can see it. I’ve tried refreeshing the design on the mail db’s, restarting notes etc. but nothing seems to have worked.

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated. If I need to provide more details please let me know.

Thanks,

Faisal

This happens to our clients when users have personal addressbooks still in the R5 Design. Simply replacing design with the R6 Template brings it out as the policies are in a hidden view in the names.nsf and require the new design.

Hi Waz,

Thanks for the post. Well in our case all the clients have R6 design but I went ahead and tried your recommendation. Unfortunately, no luck. Any other thoughts???

Thanks.

If you use their ID with your client can you see the link?

Subject: RE: Mail Archive Link Missing

I tried using their id from my client and was unable to see the link.

However, I tried using my ID on their client and sure enough I WAS able to see the link.

I’m taking shots in the dark here…But could it be something to do with my id file and the fact that I am part of the administrators group or the fact that I originally set up the archive policy documents (archive settings, archive criteria settings) on the server?

Thanks again.

I have a dumb question…If you go into Actions-Archives-Settings, and click on the settings tab, they do have their archives enabled? I came across that issue before and that is all that it was.

Hi,

No the users do not have archiving enabled. But I am using server based archiving in which I am prohibiting personal archiving from the client. In this case I would expect the archive settings to be disalbed on the clients, however there are no archive settings showing at all on the clients. As if the server based archiving is not applying on the clients at all. Please refer to my post:

For more details on my problem. Thanks again.

check -who is owner in personal address book, i guess it’s not user and of course fix issue with R5 personal address book version. Replace design to new one
