Mac OSX 10.5 Leopard - crashes?

I know its only a few minutes after release, but I am experiencing multiple hangs using Leopard - not replicable, but happen when opening a mail document typically, while replicating etc.

Has anyone else this as an issue?

I am using Places - but avoiding switching doesn’t seem to avoid the issue.

I think there were some significant changes to networking…

Try to delete caches etc…

It would be nice if IBM posted something officially.

please update your experiences here. I want to install Leopard myself. But Notes is more important…

My plan is to install the 7.0.3 on a machine with Tiger and check that that’s ok. I also have installed Leopard on another iMac but didn’t finish testing it before I left work so I’ll have a chance to see whether it’s machine (ie my MacBook) specific. You’re right though, every other self respecting software producer has been testing leopard for months since it was delayed and have had working versions on the streets: I wonder if the development team even KNOW if 7.0.3 (or .2 for that matter) even works. I am dreading the announcement “we are concentrating our efforts on 8.0.1 for the Mac version for Leopard and until then its Tiger or nothing”.

Why should we - the customers/developers selling the product - have to do the testing/research?

Grumpy I am …

one thing to note…make sure you run disk permissions after install. And… make sure the user has Read Write access to the entire Lotus Notes Directory.

There have been issues with permissions…

Thanks - have finally got 7.0.3 to install - and there’s a Lotus staff member who is watching the install discussion on Leopard who assures us all that 7.0.3 works fine on it!

Also, whisper, whisper, that a Mac beta will be out in January for 8, ready to rock on Leopard…

Off to check permissions again - which on 10.05 take for ever (lots of posts about that one…)

Lucky you: still have two Leopard/Notes 7.0.3’s down - load up fine and then just hang after replicating - not really when doing anything, just on a whim!

Decided not to touch this machine (an older iMac) just upgrade to 7.0.3 and leave Leopard alone - guess what, Notes just crashed and completely disappeared although the dock icon says it’s open …

Thought I’d resort to web mail on one of the duff Leopard’s, but I’ve lost Firefox on that (as well as Word … and 200 fonts, another saga) and Safari doesn’t do the extended Mail template …

My advice has to be, don’t let Leopard and Notes near each other unless it’s a fully cloned machine, and you’ve lots of time … I’d love to know what the guy in Notes development is running that he’s so confident that all is well

This might be a silly question, but have you checked to ensure Notes 7.0.3 can get trough the firewall in Leopard (assuming the firewall is enabled on your machine). Networking / firewall workings have changed with Leopard, and Notes isn’t the only application affected. Skype is also partially broken at the moment.

Ben - nice to see you here! When Notes opens it’s fine - accesses the home server fine … same with the portable, replicates etc … the hang doesn’t seem to relate to any in particular.

However, have noticed something odd if I leave the dock visible: Notes opens fine and is working for a minute or so, but very quickly a second Notes icon appears in the dock (bouncing up and down), sometimes followed by a third. Opening the Force Quit window also shows the multiple icons. Eventually the ‘extra ones’ disappear at which point Notes hangs.

Is this a clue?

At the moment Leopard’s looking dead in the water for office use!!

That’s interesting: I’ve seen the multiple icons behaviour in another app I run, since I upgraded to Leopard.

I use last.fm’s helper application to ‘scrobble’ music I listen to. When this runs in Leopard, it opens in the dock as usual, and then fires up a second icon. The first icon becomes unresponsive, and I force-quit it. The second one is then just the app as normal, and it runs fine. Bizarre!

I can only assume that this behaviour is related to what you observe as last.fm works with the network stack too, like Skype and Notes (both of which have issues on Leopard).
