In earlier posts I mentioned that my Notes 6.5 Client on Mac OS 10.2.8 had been crashing on launch. Today I backed up the Data folder, made a note of my server settings, deleted Notes and did a clean install.
Now it seems that the only port Notes knows about are modem, Bluetooth-Modem, and Bluetooth-PDA-Sync. No TCPIP, SPX, or LANx anywhere to be found (User Prefs > Ports).
TCPIP is the one I need. Anyone have an idea how to get TCP/IP back???

Always seems to happen with Notes on the Mac. Use the client reconfiguration wizard in the File menu. That should sort things.

Simple question: did you also trash the users/you/lib/pref/notes pref file?

Using NiniX I see that the ports value contains only “modem”. How can I add TCP/IP? - comma between values?

Slap to the forehead: I took a look at how my Windows version was structured (commas, TCPIP no slash) and copied that. So now TCPIP is in the list. (I also have a Windows version running under VirtualPC on my Mac and it’s okay.)
But… it doesn’t seem that the Mac client has TCPIP actually turned on. In Windows I can run a trace, and the Show Status says “TCP/IP Port Driver; Transport Provider: TCP”, but in Mac the Status says “no port info available”.

Matching my Windows version, I added TCPIP. It didn’t work, so I tried TCP/IP, and NiniX removed the slash for me. BTW yes I did trash my prefs.

Just wanted to add that while NiniX does not “show” me the slash – in fact, NiniX can show me all kinds of junk – when I press Enter in a given line, the change is indeed made as I typed. So, in short, neither TCP/IP nor TCPIP work.
Also, I do have a $$HasLANport=1

In case someone stumbles on this: it’s fixed.
When I added the TCP/IP, it was, naturally, added to the bottom of the list. What I did was move it up in the list, just above the $DefaultPort, and suddenly Notes saw it.
