Mac Client is very slow

Hi,

We have one Mac user using ND 6.5 client. The server version is 6.5.4

Seens few days back we have started facing very poor response while using this client. Am not sure what has gone wrong with this client.

Every time we click to open a new mail, it takes at least 1-2 mins to open it. Also moving from one workspace tab to another is having the similar response.

I tried reinstalling Lotus Notes on the same MAC. It works for few days and again the same problems starts.

It would be of great help if any one throughs some light on this issue…

Pls let me know if you need any further details from my side.

THanks

Check the Notes ports. I’ve seen Macs that had internal dial-up modems enabled, which can really slow things down.

Upgrade to the 7.02 Mac client and you’ll be pleasantly surprised. Make sure that the Mac in question has at least 512MB of ram. You’ll see an improvement in Notes performance if you upgrade to 1 gig. ND 6.5 on the Mac is very slow. Make sure you have check for new subscriptions turned off and enable compression on the TCPIP port in the user preferences.

Upgrading to Notes 7 will bring many improvements (it did for me), but may not really answer this problem. Definitely worth upgrading to give it a try.

My hunch is that Notes is struggling to find or commuicate with a server that may have moved. The status bar may give clues what Notes thinks it is trying to do when it goes into a trance, and you may want to check that the databases you’re using are easily accessible from the Mac via the Database-open command.
