I’m writing a web services interface using R6. I know it’s in R7, but I don’t have that, so I’m using LS2J in R6. It uses RMI as an intermediary between Notes and the web service, because the server is using MTOM and that requires Java 1.5.0_05 or higher, not 1.3 that Domino has. It’s been an arduous process, but it’s shaping up fairly well.- The fly in the “fairly well” ointment is that one call, which takes a string and returns an object, keeps throwing “LS2J Error: Illegal String” when it’s invoked. Instantly, before even contacting the RMI server to load the object’s code. Nearly every single call takes one or more strings and returns an object, and the others work fine, at least the ones I’ve used. This one doesn’t.

I’ve searched Help, this web site, and the entire web for the above error, and various combinations of the error text, and found absolutely nothing. Not even that the error exists, despite its repeatability. No reference to it anywhere on the planet, apparently, except somewhere in the bowels of the LS2J code.

I’d like to request information about what may be done to either discover more about the error, or better yet to resolve it.

Thanks for your time…
Subject: Why is it every time I post here I find the solution?

I’ve been wasting time on this all day, and now hardly ten minutes after posting a query, I discover that some idiot isn’t using the correct parameters on the method call. I’ve no mirrors around or I’d give that moron a good what-for.- I’m happy to have found the problem! But it does seem more than passing strange the the last several times I’ve posted here, after hours and hours of trying to find the problem, I’ve found a solution within minutes of clicking “Post”.

Perhaps I should start here next time? (childish giggle) The Magic Of The Forum could lead to a solution straight away…

I would guess by the time you post here, you have already spent too much time trying to figure it out, exhausted all your options and are getting desperate - that’s how technology works - just forget about it and go home, its almost Miller time with the lucky Leprechaun!
