Lotus Traveler Not Syncing

Please help. I recently installed Lotus Traveler on an 8.5 server. The installation went well, however, I had (have) an issue with applying policies.

However, that is not my main concern. I have the traveler running on multiple cellphones just fine. It is syncing e-mails.

However, on my cell phone it shows connected and I can force syncing, but nothing shows up in the inbox or calendar. I checked the log on my phone and it says:

Sync Completed successfully.

Sync Results:

No items were synced.

At installation, I checked the box for mail and calendar. It did create a mailbox for Traveler Mail, however it remains blank. I have a HTC Wing phone which is running WM 6.1. I did try uninstalling/reinstalling and even tried doing a hard reboot but to no avail.

Did anyone have a similar problem? What can I do?

Hello - we are actually investigating a similar problem with users running a T-mobile Wing device. Do you know if this is the same device and licensed to T-Mobile for re-sell? I’d be very curious to what level of OS specifically you are running.

Under Start → Settings → System please let us know what these values are:

About → Windows Mobile version, CE version and Build number.

Device Information → Version → ROM Version and ROM date:

Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your response. Sorry was out for a couple days.

Version of traveler on server is: 8.5 int fix 1

Version of traveler on device is: 8.5.0.1 build is 200812161401

Carrier: T-Mobile

CE Version: 5.2.21040 (Build 21040.1.6.1)

Rom Version: 4.17.405.2 WWE

Rom Date: 6/20/07

Radio Version: 3.18.90

The weird part is that it is connected, and looks like it is pulling the updates, but nothing populates.

Subject: Traveler via T-Mobile

Do you use T-Mobile network on this device? We have a customer that reported that T-Mobile had applied updates to their network about 2 weeks ago and this has interferred with the Traveler network traffic on T-Mobile devices. Reportedly they are working on the problem and will be resolved shortly.

Hope this helps.

Subject: T-Mobile

I have a t-mobile shadow and started experiencing this problem as of this morning.

Also noticed that when I switch to a wifi connection, everything syncs fine. Once back on the t-mobile network, however, the status indicates everything is in sync, but no data has been updated on the device, nor the server.

After reading this thread I contacted t-mobile and after going up 3 levels of support, nobody could find out anything about this network issue.

If you have an incident number or anything that can help reference the issue, please post it so we can use it when contacting t-mobile.

My traveler started working again this morning on the t-mobile network.

Subject: Traveler still not working on T-Mobile

I just tried it on my T-Mobile phone and still does not work using their network. However, it works just fine using the WIFI connection at my work.

Yes - this has been a very frustrating issue. It has been very difficult to get good response from T-Mobile on this. One customer stated that they were able to talk to T-Mobile Engineers who reported they upgraded the network exactly when the customer started experiencing problems. Unfortunately we have yet to find someone who knows what happened. Best avenue right now is to contact T-Mobile support, so far everyone who has contacted them has reported they eventually start working again. Here is some technical data to provide them.

Traveler uses SyncML protocol, which is XML based content and is sent via TCP/IP ports 80, 443 and 8642. Communication on these ports is required to and from the device.

One customer reported the problem was resolved by switching there device from using wap.voicestream.com to internet2.voicestream.com for data connections, stating that the first one is more restricted.

This article also talkes about T-Mobile data settings:

Hope this helps.

Please also due tell traveler version from Domino Console (if you are admin) and report what Domino and traveler version is displayed.

And last one - from device, select Traveler Icon → Menu → About and report the Traveler client version.

Thanks again for your help.
