Lotus Traveler 'cannot sync on port 8642 and cannot connect to server on port 80 'HTTP''

Hi,

I have installed Lotus traveler on a server successfully. I can connect to the server via the phone and can download the client software on the phone. The problem comes when I finish the installation and then it is supposed to sync. There are 2 errors, the first one is cannot connect to port 8642 to sync and then I get the cannot connect to server on port 80 (HTTP). Surely I have already connected to port 80 because I can download the bloody software. Also both ports are open on the firewall/proxy

Subject: I have exactly same problem

Anyone have any idea?

Not sure what kind of firewall you’re using, but we had a similar problem using an MS ISA 2006 firewall. We had used a web publishing rule for port 80 which caused our firewall to look for web site based traffic on the port rather than simply forwarding all traffic to the server. So we were able to download the client and register with the server, but the initial sync would never work. Once we changed it to a general access rule it worked like a charm.
