I’ve tried searching the forum and looked in every corner of the web and can’t find the information I’m after.
My query concerns the security areas of Lotus Traveler 9. We are in a BES environment so are used to the policies and controls we get from there, however we also offer Traveler to other areas of the business. On review of the security policies we can enforce devices to have device password, and specify how many incorrect entries are allowed before the device will wipe itself, but I can’t find any information on how to reset the device password if the user has forgotten it. We do not have a full MDM solution to run alongside Traveler so my question is this:
How do IT admins go about resetting Traveler user device password which we’ve imposed on their devices?
Traveler just uses the Notes Internet password. Admins may reset it using Domino Administrator. There is no MDM software - I am aware of - , that accomplish this task. MDM just deploys Exchange (ActiveSync) configuration settings to the device. Not more, not less. MobileIron may control the password to an PIM app, that supports MobileIron AppConnect, but this password does not relate to the Traveler authentication.
We faced this issue, too. Our MDM software (MobileIron) allows us to clear the password on the device, but we were not able to find any way to do this from Traveler. I don’t believe that is a feature supported by MS Activesync protocol, so I doubt if Traveler can do it without help from a separate MDM product.
